Quiet little neighborhood…

This morning has been quite interesting. We woke up at about 5 am to the sounds of fighting at the bar across the street. We watched for awhile as a drunk man fought with about six other people. He then started throwing rocks at buildings. They finally got him to leave and it quited down for awhile. Then at about 8 am we heard some crying and screaming out the back. When we looked out we saw that at the house behind a us a woman was being beaten. There was a group of people watching as two women beat another woman with sticks. After awhile they escorted her off. We are not sure what was going on but most likely she had commited some type of crime against them. This kind of “community punishment” is fairly common here. I saw a similar incident as I
was walking home from the store about a week ago. Another woman was being hit with a branch by a man because she had thrown a rock at his car. Our evening today continued the drama as we witnessed about four more separate arguments/fights in our neighborhood. Welcome to Guinea!
